Dr. Linda Parenti is a native of Akron. She was valedictorian of the class of 1964 of North High School, and was the first National Merit Scholar from that school. She completed her undergraduate training at the University of Akron, receiving a Bachelor of Science Magna cum laude in 1968. She earned her MD from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1972, and began her post-graduate training that July at Akron City Hospital. Dr. Parenti was the first female physician to complete the Obstetrics and Gynecology program at City, graduating in 1976. Dr. Parenti is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.


Dr. Parenti has been active in local medical societies, and served as an officer of the Summit County Medical Society in the past. She has been appointed as a Clinical Associate Professor of OB-GYN at NEOUCOM, and has served twice as interim chair of the Department of OB-GYN at Akron City Hospital. She is a member of the teaching staffs of both Akron City and Akron General, and works closely with resident physicians at both institutions. She also has privileges in adolescent medicine at Children’s Hospital, and has been the longest serving OB-GYN physician for the Adolescent Clinic at that hospital, a duty she has carried out for over 20 years.


Dr. Parenti received the Outstanding Volunteer Faculty Award from NEOUCOM in 2004. She has given many lectures to medical students. She has been a presenter at Children’s Hospital annual Adolescent Medicine update, a yearly seminar, for several years. Recently Dr. Parenti was honored by the Susan G. Komen-BMW Ultimate Drive as a local hero, acknowledging her as a 14 year breast cancer survivor who has used her profession to raise the consciousness of the community and her patients to this disease.


Dr. Parenti is married to Thomas A. Pinto, a retired middle school teacher and administrator. The Pintos have two children, Elissa Rathbun, who lives with her husband Lee in Winston-Salem, NC, and is expecting her first child in January 2012, and Thomas C. Pinto, graduated from the University of Akron with a degree in early childhood education. Dr. Parenti has a placque in her family room which says, “What is this ‘LEISURE TIME’ of which you speak?” and in HER “leisure time” she enjoys reading, crocheting, reading, computer fun, reading, counted cross stitch, reading, crafting, and reading. She collects pictures and figurines on the “mother and child” theme, both human and animal, and also has a number of figures depicting expectant mothers.


Dr. Parenti’s philosophy of patient care is simple. She believes that the patient should be an active partner in her own care. She believes that there are NO SECRETS in medicine, and explains the rationale behind procedures, answers all questions to the best of her ability, and promises “If I don’t know the answer, I will do my best to find out!” Dr. Parenti has just finished 35 years of active practice of obstetrics and gynecology and for the last several years has been delivering babies of babies whom she delivered. “I still love my job—though the night hours are much harder to handle—but I really don’t feel ready to quit yet! As long as I can still perform my duties, and as long as I stay healthy, I plan to continue working!”

Dr. Lisa M. Cousineau, DO
Dr. Lisa M. Cousineau, DO

Dr. Cousineau complete her undergraduate education at Bowling Green State University, and received her medical degree from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Ob/Gyn training at Akron City Hospital. She is board certified, and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.


Dr. Cousineau is an Akron native, and has practiced here since 1997. She has been active in serving on numerous hospital executive committees. She serves on the board of Sheltercare /Highlands for high risk teen pregnancies. She is a member of the teaching faculty at both Akron City Hospital and Akron General Medical Center. She also staffs the Adolescent Clinic at Akron Children’s Hospital.


Special interests include; laparoscopic procedures, laser laparo-

scopy, alternatives to hysterectomy, high & low risk obstetrics.


Dr. Cousineau is married to former Cleveland Browns/Ohio State football player, Tom Cousineau. They have two children. In her spare time she enjoys tennis, boating, snow skiing and hiking.

Dr. Cecilia A. Ellis, DO
Dr. Cecilia A. Ellis, DO

Dr. Ellis completed her undergraduate education at Youngstown State University and received her medical degree from University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences. She completed her Ob/Gyn training at Akron City Hospital. She is board certified and a member of the American Collete of Obstetrics and Gynecology.


Dr. Ellis has been practicing in the Akron area since 1993. She has been honored as a three time recipient of Summa Hospitals Superior Patient Care Award and was featured in NorthernOhio Live, September 2002 issue, as one of the area’s top physicians as selected by her peers. She is a member of the teaching faculty at both Akron City Hospital and Akron General Medical Center.


Dr. Ellis is married to Mike Santucci, an Engineer. She has four children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, playing the piano, running and reading.

Dr. Maura K. O'Shea, MD

Dr. O’Shea completed her undergraduate education at Yale University and received her M.D. from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. While at medical school, she was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her training at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, receiving the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons Award. She is board-certified in ob/gyn and is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. O’Shea joined Ob/Gyn Associates in 2001. While in Akron, she has been honored with the Akron General Department of Ob/Gyn’s Attending of the Year award, and the Council on Resident Education National Faculty Award. She is a two-time recipient of Summa Health System’s Elite Patient Care Award.

Dr. O’Shea is a member of the teaching faculty at both Akron City Hospital and Akron General Medical Center. She also staffs the Adolescent Clinic at Akron Children’s Hospital. Dr. O’Shea teaches a formal laparoscopy / hysteroscopy course to resident physicians at Akron General Medical Center. Her areas of interest include adolescent gynecology, alternatives to hysterectomy, and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. O’Shea is married to Stewart Moritz, a professor of law at the University of Akron. They have two children. In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, hiking, gardening, and spending time with family.

Dr. Jamie Byler graduated with honors from Baldwin-Wallace College, where she received her B.S. degree with a major in biology and a minor in chemistry. She received her medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine, earning multiple scholarships and the Nicholas J. Thompson award for Excellence in the Study of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Byler spent four years as a resident at Akron General Medical Center. During her residency training she received the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award, the Mortimer Rosen award for the Best CREOG Score in Northeast Ohio, The Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures award and was named Administrative Chief Resident. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and is board certified.

Dr. Byler joined Ob/Gyn Associates in 2008. She is a member of the teaching faculty at Akron General Medical Center and Akron City Hospital. She has a special interest in adolescent medicine and health education. Dr. Byler is married to Jeremy Keschl, a medical sales representative. They have a 2 year old daughter, Lola, and four month old twins, Romy and Willa. Her hobbies include listening to live music, traveling and playing with her bulldog Vera.

Dr. Nancy McGrievy completed her undergraduate education at Santa Clara University and received her Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. She spent four years as a resident at Akron General Medical Center. During her residency training she received the Outstanding Resident Teaching Award. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She completed the first phase of her Board Certification and is eligible to complete the process in 2012.

Dr. McGrievy joined OBGYN Associates in 2010. She is a member of the teaching faculty at Akron General Medical Center and Akron City Hospital. Dr. McGrievy has a special interest in alternatives to hysterectomy and minimally invasive surgery. Dr. McGrievy is married to Michael McGrievy, a teacher at Old Trail School. They have two children. Outside the office , she enjoys running, hiking, cooking, reading, and spending time with her family.
